While we are sad the league has ended, we are really proud of the work our team did on the XFL Stats App.
We partnered with the XFL for their 2020 season to build out crucial pieces of their website and digital presence. With the kickoff rapidly approaching, the XFL enlisted SharpHat to create a real time stats application that could be fully integrated into xfl.com. The mobile responsive, user-friendly site gave fans even more access to the sport they crave – in the stadium, at home, or on the go.
Our project kicked off faster than a 25-second play clock. With a short timeline and multiple moving parts, SharpHat worked closely and continuously with both internal and external stakeholders. As the weeks in their season progressed, more site features were added.
After an aggressive 4-week sprint, the SharpHat team proudly delivered a fully functional, dynamic statistics site ahead of game 1. By the end of the season, SharpHat produced season leaders (for both players and teams), standings, sortable stats for players, and player profile pages – all of which contained up to the minute stats.
For the XFL, these were all essential components to keep followers engaged, and give fans access to all things football. Our experience and history creating football applications and statistics sites were key factors in meeting the deadline; there is no overtime when creating custom software.
While the season may have only provided a short-term cure to F.O.D. (aka Football Offseason Depression), the XFL’s games and compelling live stats pages bridged the gap for a while!
Our team monitored the Live Stats and Standings pages from the Press Box at MetLife Stadium on 2/29/20.
